The Economics and Management International Immersion Talent (EMIIT) Program, RIEM’s undergraduate program, was established in 2009. All EMIIT courses are taught in English and meet top international academic standards.

 

Program Objectives

The project aims to cultivate high-quality talents with solid knowledge of modern economics and management; who can master the research methods and analytical tools of economics and management; who have strong international perspectives and communication skills; and who will become senior leaders and industry elites in the field of economics and finance in the future.

 

Students are expected to have achieved the following goals upon completion of this program:

A.    Be highly competitive with graduates from top-tier universities (surpassing them in data analysis);

B.    Possess expertise and data analytical abilities to compete in worldwide job markets against the best graduates from top universities;

C.    Have the ability to work in a multiculturalenvironment, have a strong mind, be mentally healthy, and have an international perspective;

D.    Be able to work with top-level scholars to conduct original academic research and be able to continue postgraduate studies domestically or abroad;

E.    Be able to solve problems in real world business; have a spirit of teamwork and a good sense of leadership; and be able to work in international enterprises or organizations.

 

Educational Requirements

The program emphasizes the cultivation of solid basic theory and professional knowledge as the basis; paying attention to the status of the economy and management; being attentive to international exchanges; and strengthening research and applied research capacity training.

 

Students are required to master the theoretical knowledge of economics and management; to be familiar with various business, international, and domestic regulations and national financial policies; and to understand the subject’s theoretical frontier and development trends.

 

Students are required to have a high level of foreign language proficiency and be fully able to satisfy the language requirements of international organizations.

 

 

Program Characteristics

In order to achieve the goal of education as well as embody the educational concept of “imparting knowledge, training skills, and improving quality,” the characteristics of RIEM’s program are as follow:

A.    Integration of curriculum resources and improvement of the degree’s curriculum (to make course content more in-depth as well as improve courses’ prerequisites)

B.    Emphasis on developing students’ data analysis abilities in order to strengthen students’ mathematical analysis ability and establish a large number of mathematics-related courses, including: advanced mathematics, probability statistics, econometrics, financial econometrics, etc.

C.    Students can choose a major and a minor in economics, finance, accounting,or business administrationin accordance with their goals and capabilities. Research and practicum-oriented courses are available for each major. (Students can choose their majors according to their respective career plans.)

D.    Modeled after the curriculums of top American business schools, the EMIIT program has condensed its existing courses and designed compulsory courses that fully satisfy international standards.

E.     Diversified elective courses.

F.     Strengthening practical application and increasing “hands-on” abilities.

G.    Teaching entirely in English with an international education model to provide greater space for the students’ growth; providing outstanding students with opportunities to go abroad for further studies.

H.    Reading classics. Encourage professionals to suggest reading materials related to the different majors, and pay attention to cultivating students’ reading habits and improving their reading ability. The curriculum implementation plan should list necessary reading bibliographies and other reference materials. Teachers should supplement reading classics with classroom discussion, reading notes, literature reviews, and other methods.

 

Length of Studies

In accordance with RIEM’s credit system, the length of studies is generally four years but can be extended to six years.

 

Graduation and Degree Requirements

Limit on minimum credits: Students should earn 115 credits (111 course credits, and 4 credits for internships or practical training).

 

All students must complete the following provisions in order to achieve each component’s minimum required credits. Students who satisfy the degree’s requirements will be awarded a degree.

Summer Courses

 

The summer semester usually begins the first Monday in July and lasts three weeks. Every summer, RIEM offers three or four elective courses which are taught by visiting professors from overseas universities. All summer courses are electives, so students can decide whether or not they want to take summer courses.

 

Students will earn course credit when they pass the course exam. The courses offered depend on the visiting professors, and these courses may include (but are not limited to):
